Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease. It is divided into four parts: A, B, C, and D — each covering different aspects of your healthcare.
What It Covers

- ✓ All-in-one private plans (Part C / Medicare Advantage)
- ✓ Prescription drug coverage (Part D)
- ✓ Preventive services and screenings
- ✓ Durable medical equipment
✕ What It Doesn't Cover
- ✕ Long-term custodial care
- ✕ Most dental, vision, and hearing care (Original Medicare)
- ✕ Cosmetic procedures
- ✕ Care received outside the U.S. (with some exceptions)
💰 Cost Overview
Costs vary by part and plan. Part A is available at no premium cost for most people. Part B has a standard $185/month premium in 2026. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans have varying premiums, deductibles, and copays.
